The Scout Oath

A promise scouts make together. It covers three duties: to God and country, to other people, and to themselves.

On my honor I will do my best
to do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
to help other people at all times;
to keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

The Scout Law

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Twelve points, each one something a scout can practice today. Here's what they look like in Cub Scout terms.

  2. 2LoyalStand by your family, friends, den and town.
  3. 3HelpfulPitch in without waiting to be asked.
  4. 4FriendlyBe a friend to everyone, including kids who are different from you.

  6. 6KindTreat people and animals the way you'd want to be treated.
  7. 7ObedientFollow the rules at home, at school and in the pack.
  8. 8CheerfulLook on the bright side, even with a tough job.
